Vizcaya Museum & Gardens | Miami, Florida

I realize it may seem a little unorthodox to pine over architectural walls and historical landmarks in a city like Miami. The city is known mostly for its vivacious color scheme on Ocean Avenue, its wild night life, and its divine local Cuban spots. While traveling here this summer, our Uber driver referred to Miami as a her, "living her life however she wants to," and I totally get that.

Just off of Brisbane Bay in Miami, we got to explore this beautiful, retro Italian villa. With Spanish deco and gardens that would remind you of the Hercules era, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens were absolutely breath-taking. Hard to believe that just 10 min down the street awaited the same club they fist pumped to on Jersey Shore.

This walkway marks one of the entries into "El Jardin Secreto," which translates to the "secret garden" in Spanish. I just know this is the spot where they used to send little secret hand-written notes to each other saying, "wyd?" and "u up?"

The most impressive part of the interior and exterior design was the way Paul Chalfin used different aspects from Greece, Spain, and Italy to create unique elements. Elegant decor on the inside, and strong Romeo & Juliet vibes on the outside. Kinda understood what it would've been like living like a Kardashian back in the 1900s.
