Home decorating is in a whole other tier of adulting. I’m honestly obsessed with decorating my home lately but to do it the way I want it would definitely be out of budget and isn’t necessarily something I need to invest in right now. If I had an actual house or property I owned, it might be a different story, but for now, I just live in a cute lil apartment with my boyfriend.

Recently, I decided to change things up in our apartment and add some feminine touches to our home decor. Of course, Plan A would be to start from scratch and buy everything new lol but my boyfriend wasn’t the biggest fan of that plan haha. Understandably, we went with Plan B, which was to work with what we have and add a couple of new budget-friendly pieces for our little home.

Here are a couple of ideas you can try to really make it feel homey and cozy:

1) Add a fresh layer of paint to some of your existing furniture. We had this black shelving unit from Ikea that I’ve had for like eight years, and I though it would be a good idea to put a fresh coat of white paint on it.

We also had this dining table with black edges, and I thought it would be more chic and contemporary to make it gold. And I’ll blog a DIY on how I did these btw (all spray paint, no sanding!) later for you guys. :)

2) Invest in a couple statement pieces that fit within your budget. For our place, I invested in a gold mirror, this wooden bench from Urban Outfitters, this rattan chair from Anthropologie, a glass mirror side table, and a couple of plants to add some greenery. Candles and blankets are also an easy way to elevate your space.

3) Thrift when you can! Thrift and vintage stores have great finds. We found our couch at a thrift store, barely used for $200. It’s a sectional that also doubles as a bed and we love it. It’s time-consuming but if you find the right pieces it’s so worth it.

4) Treat yourself to a fresh set of matching towels and this ultra-comfy robe. Parachute sent me these items recently and I am obsessed. The towels are super absorbent and look really nice in my bathroom. I got the tassel set because I thought they were still cute with minimal designs. And this robe has seriously become a part of my nightly routine. I shower, robe up, then finish my skincare and night routine before bed. It is. The best.

True adulting haha.

I hope these tips helped xx I know decorating can be stressful but just take it day by day. Invest in one piece every couple of weeks and you’ll see what a difference it makes. :) It doesn’t have to be crazy expensive to have a chic place.

xx,
