In Honor of Filipino American Heritage Month

Love Sara Faye Filipino.jpg

October is Filipino American Heritage Month and as a proud hapa, I took it upon myself to really explore different Filipino-owned business. As a Filipino-American (my mom is Filipino and my dad is Irish-German), I looove learning about my culture and supporting my heritage. So I found new fashion brands, skincare companies, local restaurants, and even films (ok ok, I had to settle for Raya, the first SouthEast Asian disney princess, even though she’s not technically pinay).

So I wanted to share my compiled list with you guys. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve just wanted to learn more and more about my culture and feel more connected to my roots. I even started learning the language (my boyfriend’s mom is teaching us!). But without further ado, here is my compiled list of Filipino businesses and bloggers to support.

  • Undo Clothing for minimal, cozy basics

  • Anika for slow fashion, contemporary, feminine pieces

  • Josanna Studios for heritage footwear handmade in Marikina, Philippines

  • Baul for one-of-a-kind high fashion bags

  • Munimuni for ethical shoes handcrafted in the Philipiines

  • Susto the Label for contemporary minimal pieces

  • Araw for contemporary, vintage pieces inspired by tropical vacations
