So I’m blogging here to update you guys on what I’ve been doing on clubhouse since I joined. I found an amazing community of gals on there and we’ve all started doing rooms together to help give advice on what we’ve learned on our path of micro-influencing. The room is comprised of influencers mostly in the lifestyle and fashion space, ranging in followers anywhere from 2k to 24k.

If you’re new to the app, click here to read Clubhouse 101: Etiquette, Tips & Tricks.

Basically each week we do a new topic but the format is the same, we will talk about a topic for the first 30 minutes, and then open it up to the audience for Q&A’s. Last week we talked about all things content creation, shooting tips, and more. This week we focused solely on how to work with brands including pitching, influencer platforms, and when you should and shouldn’t give your rate.

I wanted to share some of our main takeaways below (shout out to our admin Bri for organizing everyone’s notes and to all the wonderful ladies who gave us amazing gems during this talk!).

Things to ask when interacting with brands:

  • What is the timeline for this campaign?

  • What is the organic usage?
Organic usage means the brand reposting any of your content on their social channels.

  • What is the paid usage?
This could mean the brand reposting your image on their account and then boosting it, or them using a photo of yours as an ad.

  • Will there be any whitelisting?
This means that the brand may want to boost the content on your profile in order to amplify reach.

  • What is your budget?
We always recommend asking them what their budget is first, so that you don’t price yourself out of anything. And when you do tell them your rate, make your rates high (but reasonable) then negotiate down from there.

Pitch template example for reaching out to brands:

Hi [brand name] team,

Hope you are having a great day!

I've been a fan of [brand name] for a while now, and I was wondering if you were interested in a partnership for social promotion, specifically featuring your [specific product].

I'd love to promote on Instagram and tag the brand accordingly, and I feel like my audience would love it because they follow me for my minimal niche in fashion.

I've attached my media kit with more information - would love to start a conversation!

xx
Sara

Don’t forget to add in your email:

  • A media kit

  • Examples of your past work & collabs (i.e. reels/tiktoks)

  • A creative and organic way to incorporate their products into your content

  • Include your stats in the subject line or message

Tips for your Media Kit

We all recommend using Canva.com for aesthetic and customizable media kits, but Fohr.co is a good resource as well. They allow you to save easy accessible media kits and keeps your stats up to date.

Be sure to include:

  • Icons linked to your social media platform

  • Add hyperlinks into Media Kit PDF

  • Specific ‘About Me’ description

  • What people follow you for

  • What’s your niche

Influencer Platforms To Sign Up For

Influencer platforms are a great way to get your foot in the door and either find product trade deals or paid collabs. Here are some of the platforms we recommend:

Hope this is helpful for anyone out there trying to get started as a micro-influencer! We host rooms every Thursday at 7 pm PST in the Influencer Lounge. Our rooms are called “Advice from Influencers.”
