I’m so excited to continue this series Influencer Talk, where I sit down (digitally, bc quarantine) with a couple of women who inspire me. In these in-depths, I talk to tastemakers in the fashion industry to ask them about their style, how they grew on instagram, and what they’re into lately (of course, we talk skincare and all that good stuff too).

If you missed my first piece with Stephanie Arant aka @shhtephs, you can check it out here. Or catch up on @naomigeorgeo, aka Naomi George’s in-depth here.

This segment is very near and dear to my heart, mostly because I am able to spotlight some fellow female and POC creatives, as well as help give some tips to any young creators out there. It is an honor to be able to spotlight the lovely Diamond, a BIPOC creator who has unmatched style, a kind heart, and is one of current inspirations. Read on to learn more about her as a sag sun and rising content creator.

Q&A WITH DIAMOND ROLLINS

Q: Your style is stunning. Where/who do you draw your style inspiration from?

Aw, thank you so much! I really draw inspiration from everywhere around me. This can be from people passing by, scrolling on instagram, youtube and flipping through my favorite magazines.

Q: Tell me a little history about your relationship with fashion. Were you always into fashion or did it grow over time?

Ahh, it really started back in high school. I didn't really have a lot of money to go shopping so my passion for fashion grew from making nothing into something. I loved flipping outfits literally 10 different ways and making it seem like I had never worn it before, haha!

Q: What is your go-to everyday outfit?

I really love a good knit dress, slip on sneakers and comfortable cardigan or jacket. I swear it's the easiest and stylish everyday outfit now.

Q: What are you currently obsessed with?

I am currently super obsessed with matching sweatsuit sets, whether it be a crew neck with shorts or jogger pants, it's a mood! I literally seek so much inspiration from WhoWhatWear + many instagram accounts, there are so many stylish and amazing creators out here.

Q: Was there a particular moment when you started to take things a little more seriously on IG?

I would say back in 2018 is when I began to really take content creation seriously. It has been quite the journey for me but a very beautiful one.

Q: You've grown so much on this platform. What would you attribute your success to?

I genuinely have prayed about this journey to my heavenly Father upstairs and he has guided me and really led me in the direction of such amazing people and brands. Also, the amazing support of my audience, friends and family really make creating so much more enjoyable and exciting!

Q: Now that you're at 16k, what are some of your goals as an influencer? What's next for you?

I used to set goals for a number of followers or brand deals even, but now the goal is truly just to inspire and impart something great in every person that follows me. I genuinely pray that as I continue to grow as an influencer I am leaving a meaningful impact on others.

Q: How do you feel about TikTok and Reels?

I actually think TikTok is pretty awesome! It's so carefree and in a way has low expectations. I feel like it allows you to just be you, it's not as structured and peaks an interest to so many different people.

I also think reels are pretty amazing, many times a bit more structured than tiktok but a really great way to grow and entertain. I will definitely be investing more time in upping my video skills.

Q: Any thoughts on clubhouse?

I have used Clubhouse a few times and I feel like it's a nice way to virtually network but I am still learning more about it though.

Q: With everything going on in the world right now, how can influencers use their platform to support causes they care about?

As we all know 2020 was definitely an awakening year and I feel like for influencers it is great to chat about and share causes that can bring awareness to others. This can be through mini chats in stories, partnering with brands that are genuinely supporting a great cause, creating content talking about causes you stand for and simply using your voice to try and make change while educating others. I love people like @sarahhsol, @gabrielasage, @westindieray and @thatcurlytop as great examples.

Q: What is your self-care/skincare routine, or something you do to take care of yourself mentally?

Self care to me is taking some time to myself to disconnect from the world sometimes and really making sure my mental health is high. I love to pray, take long walks, use a body scrub I've been wanting to try and truly just pamper myself a little extra to feel relaxed and naturally in my element.

Q: What is your must-have skincare or beauty product(s)?

I must have a facial serum and I love this one by kiehl's, Daily Reviving Concentrate Face Oil

Q: And lastly, can you leave my readers with your top 3 beauty tips?

1. Make sure to always wear sunscreen, even when you are inside and when it's cloudy outside.

2. If you want to lighten dark marks try serums or products that are infused with Vitamin C, Grapeseed oil, or Tumeric.
